Position Overview:
The Marketing Automation Manager, working within Marketing Operations, will implement and support highly effective marketing programs and demand gen initiatives. This person will play a key role in planning, implementing and supporting marketing programs that are tied to customer deliverables and business objectives. We are seeking a HIGHLY motivated and results-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced digital environment. To be successful, this person will have success driving results-driven marketing campaigns, love learning and troubleshooting new technologies, and be highly organized and committed to quality work.
The Marketing Automation Manager will be responsible for day-to-day development and delivery of marketing programs on behalf of internal and external clients, with responsibilities such as marketing campaign development and management, email deployment, web and HTML creation, campaign analysis and reporting, and troubleshooting. This person will be required to partner closely with marketing services and other teams to ensure marketing projects and deliverables are completed on time, on budget and accurately. This individual will need strong analytical skills, marketing expertise, and an affinity toward technology and tools. Core skills of the successful candidate will include having a strong understanding of marketing principles, execution excellence, and a willingness to learn new systems and apply toward business objectives. Strong oral and written communications skills also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage planning, development and execution of outbound email marketing campaigns targeted to our audiences using marketing best practices.
- Use Eloqua, Penton’s marketing automation platform, to deliver timely and relevant marketing campaigns utilizing all aspects of the application, such as campaigns, filtering, emails, landing pages, web forms and more.
- Manage effective relationships with internal and external clients and other team members to keep projects on track and deliver a quality solution.
- Monitor email deliverability for assigned marketing group(s) to maximize results; be willing to troubleshoot deliverability issues and resolve problems as needed.
- Conduct all email quality assurance checks to ensure email meets stakeholder expectations.
- Develop email copy, landing pages, banner creative, and other marketing collateral as needed.
- Leverage a “test, measure, and refine” approach with regular reports and recommendations to constantly improve program results and increase the impact of outbound marketing objectives.
- Become an expert on Penton’s marketing automation tool (Eloqua) and implement all possible features of the system.
- Oversee and manage projects as assigned; understanding of basic project management principles required.
- Provide support for other areas of marketing operations team as needed.
- BA/BS Degree required with 3+ years in marketing, preferably a demand generation role.
- Key foundational knowledge of marketing principles, including lead nurturing, conversion optimization and campaign best practices.
- Experience deploying emails through an application such as Yesmail, Constant Contact, Eloqua, etc.
- Experience hand-coding HTML or working in an editor (Dreamweaver, etc.) to design and develop messages and landing pages.
- Excellent project management expertise, with proven ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
- Assist with campaign and business-specific reports and metrics, acting as liaison to group team for defining requirements and determining scope.
- Perform administrative or reporting duties for the team as needed.
- Willingness to learn marketing automation tool (Eloqua) to meet program objectives
- Understanding of email best practices, CAN-SPAM compliance, email deliverability, email optimization, and cross-client compatibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for delivering results and driving internal and external customer success
